The stressful week is finally over, with the rushing of the radio assignment, the informative essay and my assessed speech.
I think the radio assignment was quite okay, though Audrey and En Ping thought that it was a war going on though it was just a ship/cruise exploding because some kuku smashed the controls. We rushed the paperwork, rushed to the library to print because the deadline was at 11am and Ariel said that she would be THERE to collect the assignment and to give us back our previous ones but of course, she wasn't there.
"Oh boo-hoo." - Felix Tan.
We were doing our radio assignment blindly, so to speak, because we didn't know our grades for the previous assignments and didn't know how much we had to do to keep our grades there, or to even keep afloat. Now we're supposed to collect them from her some other day, yadda yadda. Come on la, we're your students, we make the effort to come to school early to do our stuff, you say you'll be there at 11 to give us our assignments but you don't come. Meet us at least halfway can? We'd like to think that you're busy doing Idunnowhat in the staffroom, but it happens almost every time. If you're sick, take MC, don't come to school, then we don't need to wake up so early just to drag our asses to class and still WAIT for you to come in.
-mutters darkly under breath-
The informative essay was quite okay, I guess. Just had a bit of headache doing the APA referencing and ITCs because some of the information in the essay just... cannot be referenced, considering that it came out from dar's head. I think the essay's still has a little narrative element to it, some melodramaticness in it. But oh well, it has already been handed in and I shall not think about it anymore. At least I did pretty well for the paragraph exercise. Of course, I totally screwed the grammar and ITC test because a) I didn't study b) why should we study the technicalities of grammar if we can use them properly to make a proper sentence? Messers Sharpe and Wong just love screwing our asses.
My assessed speech.
I had ideas here and there of what to do, but inspiration really struck home on Monday, in the cockroach-infested LT where Ms Cordelia said something about cockroaches with salt can be quite tasty as a joke thingy. Hence I did my speech on entomophagy - the art of eating insects. I'd only started my outline on Thursday while waiting for dar to finish his project meeting whilst freezing my toes and fingers off in the library. I completed the outline and my 'visual aid' just before midnight. The next morning, I was trying to absorb my outline and trying to remember what was it so that I wouldn't make an ass out of myself when I was my turn but of course, I ended up falling asleep on the bus =D
I was very tempted to skip socpsych but didn't because En Ping would probably get another warning letter so we ended up freezing in the classroom, listening to TBH drone on and on, not really absorbing anything. I think I was already lost by the time he was halfway through. At least he didn't make us do the activities. Make me print for nothing =.=
Lunch time came by and I added some more stuff to my ppt, a recipie for chocolate coated crickets. I'd wanted the one on mealworm chocolate chip cookies but it was too long and I would've gone over the time limit. I was so freaking nervous even though I was one of the last few to present. Thankfully, there was a 10 minute break before my turn and while I was busy fretting about in the front, fiddling with En Ping's Mac, Cordelia said some really funny stuff which helped chase away my nervousness, build up a little adrenaline so I was smiling my way through my speech. I daresay I did much, much better than my previous speeches. I think it was the preparation. I was yammering my way through my speech in front of En Ping during the break and it sort of helped. I'm really glad I didn't screw up my speech and that the timing of my speech was in the 'safe time'.
-dances-
I hope I can get at least a B for the speech. I was pretty comfortable up there freaking my classmates out with how they actually ingest insects without knowing it. It was gratifying to see them go 'ew' and laugh at the part of the suicidal ants.
Now I'm sitting here at the Atrium with two of my IS group members waiting for the rest to arrive. I'd woken up late on purpose today with the intention of being late for the meeting. I dillyed and I dallyed, leaving the house really late, reaching Hougang Int. really really late, and I still reached school before 11 and I was the first to arrive for the meeting.
=.=
"And maybe the next time you see a cockroach, like one of the many cockroaches in the Convention Centre, don't freak out, but think of it as a delicacy ^^" - ME.
